Building Ideas: An Introduction to Theory Generation and Grounded Theory

Rehman College of Nursing (RCN) hosted a pre-conference workshop as part of the upcoming International Conference on Health Research 2025.
The workshop, titled “Building Ideas: An Introduction to Theory Generation and Grounded Theory,” drew academics, researchers and healthcare professionals interested in exploring qualitative research methods.
Facilitators Prof. Abel Jacobus Pienaar from Boitekanelo College, Botswana, and Dr. Khalil Ahmad Jatt, Principal of Alhamd College of Nursing and Health Sciences, guided participants through the fundamentals of grounded theory.
The session focused on theory generation, data collection, coding techniques, and the construction of frameworks to understand complex phenomena through a qualitative lens.
Organised under the banner of ICHR-25, the workshop marked a significant step towards strengthening health research capacity and promoting evidence-based practice across the region.
